FINDING OUR TRUE PASSIONS

There are many things in life that make us happy, but only a few things we feel we cannot live without.  These are our passions, the things that fill us up to the brim with joy, making our hearts jump up and down at their very thought.  For my husband, this is baseball.  Playing since he was old enough to pick up a bat, this sport has brought him a sense of accomplishment, shown him the fruits of true hard work, and given him more ear to ear smiles than many people wear in a lifetime.

Two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of seeing Matt take the field for the first time since his last college game.  I got to watch him get hit after hit, turn double plays, and steal bases.  Watching him play made me so incredibly happy, as I could see how happy it made him.  I hope you all find your passion in life, something that makes you as truly fulfilled as my husband when he plays baseball, or me with a camera in my hand.

Matt’s dad loves watching Matt play baseball, almost as much as Matt loves playing it.

Find a way to do what you love everyday, and life will be a little more beautiful.

Matt’s dad loves watching Matt play ball MORE than Matt loves playing. What a great picture you took Amy, with catcher, umpire, hitter and ball all in perfect form.

Amy, Great photos of Matt playing baseball. The photo behind the plate is amazing. When are you doing a blog on how happy tennis makes you?

NYC CENTRAL PARK FAMILY : FRANCES + STUART

There is something about a family walking through Central Park that is beautiful. A dad holding his little girl by the hand, laughing adoringly as she pulls him toward the ice cream cart. Mom cradling her son to her chest, smiling as he sleeps soundly through the humming of the excited noise all around. Adorable puppies playing together in the fields, happy to run freely while their owners watch lovingly close by. There is a sense of community here, and it feels wonderful to be a part of it.

This weekend I had the pleasure of photographing Frances, Stuart, and their two adorable children in Central Park. I hope you enjoy a few of my favorite images below!

DREAM ENCOURAGERS : PASTOR TERRY + SHARON SMITH

Today is a very exciting day!  Drum roll please……:) Today, I am so excited to introduce you to the man behind the book that encouraged me to go after my dream and become a wedding photographer!  Meet Pastor Terry and his wife Sharon Smith!  Two years ago, Pastor Terry released the book he wrote called “TEN“, a book that encourages you to go after your God given dreams and live life to the fullest. “I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.” -John 10:10  You can read my review on the book here.  Through reading TEN and the encouragement of my friends in the Holewski Life Group, I discovered that God had given me a passion for photography and weddings for a reason.  I decided to take a leap of faith and start my own business, and I haven’t looked back ever since!

Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Pastor Terry and Sharon for the “Invite In Campaign” happening at The Life Christian Church this spring.  Check out a few of my favorite images below!

HAVE A WONDERFUL WEEKEND!

CENTRAL PARK + WEST VILLAGE ENGAGEMENT : MARIA + NICK

The night was a clear one, the night that Maria and Nick met.  It was Memorial Day, 2009, and fate brought them both to the same party on that beautiful evening. Maria and Nick found each other locked in  one-on-one conversation for hours under, as Maria remembers it,  the “drizzly night sky”.  Though they were just sitting in plastic chairs in the driveway, it felt perfect.  Early in the conversation Maria thought, “Wow, I could listen to that voice for the rest of my life.” She then promptly scolded herself for thinking something so crazy. Nick confessed to her many weeks later that he caught her eyes the second he walked into that party and knew right then and there that they were meant to be.

It was only 6 weeks later that Nick told Maria how much he cared for her.  They spent an incredible day in NYC…walking around the Metropolitan Museum of Art, enjoying a fancy dinner with wine, and strolling together in Central Park under the gleaming moonlight.  It was under that soft light that Nick officially asked Maria to be his girlfriend.

Fast forward to 2012.  Maria and Nick were discussing their anniversary plans.  Nick suggested heading back into the city to recreate their special day from three years ago.  Maria quickly agreed, suspecting nothing.  When they arrived to the same beautiful fountain where Nick asked Maria to be his girlfriend, he got down on one knee in front of hundreds of people and asked her to marry him!  Maria happily agreed, hugging Nick close as he slipped the sparkly diamond ring on her finger. This sweet couple is tying the knot in October and I couldn’t be more excited for them!  Check out a few of my favorite photos from their Central Park/West Village engagement session below.

We began Maria and Nick’s Central Park engagement session at the east side entrance on 72nd street.  Spring was in the air, making the park come alive with some of the most beautiful flowers I have ever seen!

Nick and Maria actually grew up in neighboring towns, exactly one mile apart!  They worked in the same shopping mall (Nick’s store was directly above Maria’s) and then down the street from each other as Maria was managing a restaurant and Nick was working in a physical therapy clinic.  Some of Maria’s patients were Nick’s customers and they used to tell her all the time about their super sweet physical therapy assistant.  Maria and Nick were only steps away from each other for years and they never met, that is, until the timing was perfect.

Maria is a writer now, winning many awards for her brilliant talent!

Maria and Nick so perfectly compliment each other.  They spend their days laughing and smiling, simply just enjoying one another’s company.

This is just steps away from the spot where Nick proposed to Maria!  The Bethesda Fountain brings back so many happy memories for this couple.

LOVE.

Maria and Nick were up for anything, even climbing this magnolia tree!

I just love how romantic these photographs feel.

After Central Park, we headed down to the West Village for a few pretty photographs at dusk.

To happiness.

As the twinkling lights of the city began to appear, Maria and Nick strolled down the cobblestone streets, hand in hand.

Maria and Nick, thank you both so much for a wonderful day in Central Park and the West Village!  It was a true pleasure learning more about your love story and I am so excited for your wedding this October.:) Until then…happy planning!

Amy,
The engagement photos of Maria and Nick are beautiful. You captured a lot of spring in these photos. Not sure how they got up in the tree, but I am glad they got up and down safely! There are many, many great photos and the use of soft light to create beautiful photographs. I like the photo of them looking out on the lake and the photos with the yellow flowers are really good. My favorite is the photo of Nick and Maria with the tree branches framing them. Great job Amy!

The picture taken in the field, and the ones taken under thr Wheeping Willow seems to capture their love for one another. All of the pics are great.
